In the Financial Times annual global ranking of full-time MBA programmes, published today, Warwick Business School has risen to 25th in the world. It retains its place in Europe’s Top 10 and its place as fourth in the UK behind only London Business School and Oxbridge.

The Financial Times surveys each business school and their MBAs who graduated three years ago to produce this ranking of the world’s top 100 business schools. The surveys are designed to measure criteria such as career progress, international diversity, and teaching and research excellence.

WBS has risen in these criteria:

  • WBS is rated 6th in the world for ‘Aims Achieved’ which asks graduates the extent to which they have fulfilled their goals or reasons for doing an MBA.
  • A rise of eight places for ‘Placement Success’ which measures the effectiveness of a school’s careers services.
  • The ‘Research Rank’ which measures the volume and quality of articles in international business journals authored by the teaching staff.

Dean of WBS, Professor Mark Taylor, said: “We aim to produce world-class, socially responsible, creative leaders and managers, and to provide a lifelong return on investment for them. The fact that we have consolidated our place in the global top 30 for three years now and improved again this year into the top 25 is a strong indication that we are meeting these aims. It is significant that the criteria in which we have risen show our strength across a good range of measures – from teaching, careers services, and meeting the demands of our MBA graduates.

“I would like to thank our students, graduates and staff whose dedication, talents and efforts are the foundation for this success.”

Earlier this month, WBS retained its place as 2nd in the world and top in the UK for its Distance Learning MBA in the QS 2014 global ranking of Distance Learning and Online MBA programmes.

Only 100 business schools are ranked; this year 12 of the 100 are based in the UK.  All participating schools must be accredited.  WBS has held the ‘triple crown’ of accreditation since 2000, when it became the first UK business school to achieve this accolade.

The Warwick MBA is by intention and design a generic business degree for would-be leaders who already have managerial experience.  It can be taken by full-time study, by distance learning, or with attendance at one-week modules on campus.  All successful students graduate with a Warwick MBA; there is no differentiation made between study modes. Additionally, the Warwick Global Energy MBA is designed for managers working in or with the energy sector anywhere in the world.
