Number one: Executive MBA students at WBS gain a huge career boost according to the latest QS ranking
Warwick Business School has reinforced its reputation as the place to accelerate senior leaders’ job prospects by being named the best in the world for ‘career progress’ for a second time in quick succession.
The QS Executive MBA ranking joined the recent Financial Times Online MBA ranking by rating WBS number one in the world for career progress.
Higher education analysts QS released its Executive MBA ranking with WBS named joint first for career progress, while also placing the School’s Executive MBA course 10th in the world and third in the UK overall.
QS assessed 215 Executive MBA programmes with its career progress rank based on the average percentage salary increase of graduates and the number of MBA students going on to secure promotion.
Andy Lockett, Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship and Dean of Warwick Business School, said: “This result shows our investment and emphasis on our careers service is paying off. We have designed the Executive MBA programme to provide the skills and abilities that employers want, especially around leadership.
“The course is designed to prepare students to transition into senior leadership positions and this is obviously bearing fruit. The ranking demonstrates the School’s clear focus on impact.
“Being ranked number one globally for career progress shows that our approach delivers tangible outcomes. As a School for the Change Maker, we are dedicated to unlocking potential and transforming aspiration into action.”
The WBS CareersPlus team are heavily involved with the Executive MBA taught at Warwick and at WBS London at The Shard, with unlimited career consultations and three coaching sessions with experts from the WBS Coaching Panel.
There is also the opportunity for executive coaching from experienced business leaders, and workshops on Influence and Communication Skills, Creating Successful Teams and more.
And the careers service does not stop once candidates’ graduate. Online resources, a career consultation, and professional interest groups are available to graduates, along with paid services such as leadership coaching, an award-winning mentoring programme and a range of psychometric tools.
Hossam Zeitoun, Reader of Strategy and Behavioural Science and Course Director for the Executive MBA, said: “Career transformation is embedded throughout the course. We work intensively with participants to help them clarify their goals and translate modules on topics such as strategy and leadership directly into their organisations.
“The result is not just career advancement, but greater control over the direction they want to take.”
An Executive MBA that propels graduates into "dream" careers
The QS ranking also showed improvements in the School’s academic reputation, with academics at 7,000 institutions across the world surveyed, seeing WBS move up one place.
And the School’s employer reputation rose four places after QS surveyed company and organisation leaders across the world.
Dr Zeitoun added: “With demand for higher education increasingly shaped by personal growth and a demonstrable return on investment, our latest performance in the QS rankings places us among a small group of schools able to combine academic credibility with measurable career impact.
“This combination helps to propel our graduates into the positions and careers they dream of.”
