I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group, Warwick Business School.

Currently, I hold a Research Fellowship at the Institute for the Future of Work (IFOW) as a member of The Pissarides Review team; a Research Fellowship at the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust; and an Associate Fellowship at the Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit), which I work with Prof. Dimitra Petrakaki (Sussex University Business School) and her colleagues on two research projects looking at the use of digital platforms in India's healthcare sector and how the crowdfunding platform Patreon creates challenges and opportunities for creative workers.

I recently completed my PhD in Sociology at the University of Cambridge, which I investigated the industrial relations dynamics in China's internet industry. During my doctoral study, I worked with Dr Bill Taylor (City University of Hong Kong) and his colleagues on a HK government-funded research project investigating the new unionism in Hong Kong (2020); Dr Crystal Kwan (Hong Kong Polytechnic University) on a project studying informal waste pickers and policy invention in Hong Kong (2021), and with the Childcare during COVID-19 research team at the Leeds University Business School as a Research Fellow (2022).

I also go by the name of Grey in the creative world; but my academic preferred name is Hong, as it shows a stronger connection to my ethnic origin: Hong Konger.
