Biography

Johannes Kleinhempel is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Warwick Business School. Before joining Warwick, he held positions at Copenhagen Business School and the University of Manchester, and was a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds a PhD in Business and Economics (cum laude) from the University of Groningen.

His research examines how socio-cultural contexts shape entrepreneurial activity across different countries, regions, and institutional settings. He is particularly interested in better understanding the mechanisms through which cultural values, social norms, and institutional arrangements influence where, how, and by whom entrepreneurship emerges.

Johannes' work has appeared in leading journals, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, andΒ Small Business Economics. It has been featured in outlets such as Forbes and the LSE Business Review, and received multiple international recognitions, including nominations for the dissertation awards at the Academy of Management (ENT NFIB 2021), the Academy of International Business (2021), and the European International Business Academy (2018-2021).
