Teaching informed by research
Through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), our faculty actively research how people learn most effectively. These insights directly shape the student experience, ensuring that teaching is designed to help you apply what you learn in real-world situations.
Behind every innovation in teaching at WBS are teams that explore, test, and refine new ideas. By treating teaching as a discipline in its own right, our courses continue to keep pace with the demands of modern organisations and prepare you to apply what you learn.
Research shaping learning activities
Our research explores some of the key questions shaping management education today. We’re constantly exploring what actually makes learning impactful, how learning can be as engaging as possible, what it takes to prepare students for the jobs and challenges ahead, and how AI is changing the experience of education itself.
We feed this directly into how modules, assessments and learning experiences are designed, meaning what’s delivered in learning activities reflects the latest thinking on how leaders learn, develop and perform.
Learning that keeps evolving
Improving teaching at WBS is a rigorous, evidence-led process.
New ideas are researched, trialled, and carefully evaluated to understand what works best and why. This cycle of research and refinement strengthens the learning experience while also contributing to wider developments in global business education.
- Explore current teaching practice through research and observation
- Reflect on what the evidence tells us about how students learn
- Apply those findings to improve how programmes are designed and delivered
The result is an experience designed to support deep understanding, critical thinking and the ability to apply ideas in complex real-world situations.
The impact of SoTL
SoTL benefits both the educators who teach, as well as the students who learn here.
We support a thriving community of educators and scholars who disseminate research outcomes, and share experiences and perspectives of teaching and learning across the disciplines of WBS.
For students, learning in an environment where teaching methods are continuously developed and constantly improving means that they receive an educational experience which is agile and responsive to their needs and expectations.
This fosters a culture of curiosity and as teaching methods evolve, students engage with more interactive, relevant, and impactful approaches that deepen their understanding.
