Global Alumni Networks: Spotlight on the UAE

The WBS Global Alumni Network in the UAE recently hosted a networking event at The Swissotel Al Marooj, Dubai.

Over 40 alumni attended the event on 16 March and it was wonderful to see many familiar faces and hear about the exciting things that our alumni have been up to since graduating from WBS.

The evening began with a cocktail reception. Following on from this, Professor James Hayton, Pro-Dean (External Affairs) and Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, shared his optimistic outlook on the future of AI, whilst exploring specific tools such as chat GPT. Huge thanks to Network Executive Chair Sorina Constantinescu who chaired the session.

UAE Network members watching a presentation During the evening there was also a vibrant speed networking session, which was expertly hosted by Network Social Chairs Yasir Qadri and Larry McClure. We dived a little deeper with our questions, aiming for the network to understand each other in a different way. Questions that were posed included:

  1. What is at the top of your bucket list?
  2. What inspired you to start doing the work you’re involved with now?
  3. What is one thing you consistently do that you know you shouldn’t?

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped to make the event such a memorable evening. We hope that you were able to make new connections and catch up with old friends.

The WBS UAE Network, part of our Global Alumni Networks, was created in 2021 to provide formal support for alumni.
