MSc alumna Bolu Buraimoh shares the impact that the Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation programme has had on her career.
How a WBS MSc launched my tech career
For MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation alum Minali Sanghani, returning to Warwick Business School felt like coming home. Originally from Nairobi, she first studied Management as an undergraduate at Warwick. Now working in IT Vendor Management at NFU Mutual, Minali credits WBS with helping her grow both personally and professionally.
Hi, I am Minali Sanghani. I was raised in Nairobi, Kenya, with Indian roots, and moved to the UK to pursue my higher education. I first came to Warwick for my undergraduate degree in Management, and returning for my Master’s truly felt like coming home! Warwick is where I found friends who became family and made some of my best memories, so coming back for my MSc in Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation was the best choice for me.
I am currently working in IT Vendor Management at NFU Mutual, a UK insurance company. I work closely with external tech partners and internal teams to ensure we get the best performance, service and value from our suppliers. It is a great mix of strategy, relationship management, procurement, and understanding how technology supports wider business functions.
How the WBS CareersPlus team helped me land a role in tech
The journey here wasn’t always easy. Like many graduates, I went through several rounds of applications, interviews and rejections before finding the path that felt right for me. What helped me stay motivated was keeping an open mind and exploring a variety of roles across the tech and business space. The WBS CareersPlus team played a huge part in supporting that journey. They were so approachable and genuinely invested in helping us all succeed. From 1:1 CV clinics to mock interviews and networking events, they helped me build confidence and tailor my applications effectively.
Balancing Business and Technology
The MSc itself was a turning point for me. Coming from a non-technical background, I was a bit nervous at first, however, the course struck the perfect balance between business strategy and technical understanding. Modules like Digital Business Strategy, Managing Digital Innovation and Enterprise Information Systems helped me see how organisations navigate digital transformation and leverage data systematically. More technical modules like Data Analytics & AI and Programming Solutions gave me a solid foundation in tech. This blend gave me the confidence to pursue roles at the intersection of business and IT, which I am loving every bit of!
The power of a diverse, supportive community
What I loved most about the course was the diverse cohort. The opportunity to learn from classmates with varied experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. The group projects, late-night study sessions and coffee chats between lectures made the whole experience more meaningful and enjoyable! It really expanded the way I approach and think about things. It was not just about academic learning but personal growth.
Skills, confidence and growth: What I gained from the MSc
If I had to describe my time at WBS in one word, it would be “transformative.” I made lifelong friends, gained practical and academic skills and grew in confidence both personally and professionally. The experience also really expanded my understanding of businesses, especially the importance of creating sustainable business models, caring for the environment and community and thinking differently and more holistically. The WBS community is inclusive, ambitious and supportive in all the right ways.
Final advice for future WBS Master’s students
If you are considering a Master’s at WBS, my advice is: say yes to opportunities, make time for career support, join events and do not hesitate to ask for help! Most importantly, be curious and enjoy the journey! It is a chance to learn, grow and create unforgettable memories!
