Our employability framework: PRACTICE

Employers today aren’t just looking for graduates with academic credentials; they’re seeking individuals who can think strategically, lead with purpose, and adapt with agility. That’s why employability is woven into our curriculum, ensuring you graduate not only with the knowledge of how to do business, but with the confidence and capability to apply it in the real world.

That’s where our PRACTICE Framework comes in - our signature approach to bridging the gap between theory and action. Developed in collaboration with our academics and with industry leaders, it embeds the skills, mindset, and adaptability that employers demand today – and will need tomorrow.

  • Professionalism – Being ready for any challenge: equipped, flexible and reliable. Delivering consistent results through smart planning, resourcefulness, and adaptability – thriving in any culture and environment.
  • Responsibility – Being responsible for your actions, ensuring high standards, and being ethical. It requires transparency, consideration of impact, and building trust.
  • Analytical – Analysis is the skill of gathering and assessing information and extracting insights from data to make informed decisions. It involves deconstructing problems, spotting patterns, and evaluating evidence.
  • Critical Thinking – The ability to evaluate information objectively to make reasoned judgments and see things from a new perspective. It involves questioning assumptions and challenging beliefs without bias or distortion.
  • Teamwork – Working with others to achieve goals. Effective leadership and team cohesion ensures clear communication and support, creating an inclusive space where all contributions are valued.
  • Innovation and Creativity – Driving original thinking and creative solutions. Generating innovative ideas and implementing plans that lead to fresh perspectives, and efficient solutions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Communication – Ensuring the effective exchange of ideas and information. Conveying the message clearly and listening actively, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.
  • Emotional Awareness – Recognising and sharing emotions, appreciating cultural differences, and managing your own feelings to respond with compassion.

Gain industry experience with a self-sourced internship

Many of our MSc courses offer the opportunity for you to self-source a summer internship, to increase your employability by applying your theoretical learnings to a real-world industry setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire authentic experience of the workplace whilst you finetune your skillset, and ultimately bolstering your CV. You won't feel detached from WBS though, our careers team will support you through each step of the process. The following courses facilitate this option:

Complete your course by putting theory to practice

Apply business theory in a setting designed to accelerate your career readiness. Through a blend of real‑world and online simulations, academic insight, targeted skills training, and input from experienced practitioners, you’ll build the practical capabilities employers look for in high‑performing graduates.

The Business in Practice module offers an alternative to the traditional Dissertation or Research Paper with a hands‑on, career‑focused experience. Working within an immersive team business simulation, you’ll gain exposure to every major business function and learn how strategic decisions play out in a realistic organisational environment. This module will strengthen your commercial awareness, decision‑making, teamwork, and leadership - core competencies that directly translate into the workplace.

You’ll practise evaluating business performance across multiple dimensions, mirroring the responsibilities of real management teams. By applying the knowledge gained throughout your MSc, you’ll demonstrate your ability to think critically, collaborate effectively, and operate with a strategic mindset.

Following the simulation, you will complete an Individual Reflection and a Business Analysis, giving you the opportunity to articulate your professional growth, showcase your analytical skills, and produce evidence of your readiness for future roles. We offer the Business in Practice capstone module on the following courses:
