School of thought: The Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology will be central to building Ukraine's fintech education

Warwick Business School is partnering with Ukraine’s Projector Institute to provide vital fintech education to those who need it most: veterans returning from the frontlines and individuals whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the war.

Launched today, this new collaboration aims to equip Ukrainian learners with the cutting-edge skills required to rebuild their country’s economy, focusing on financial technology, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation. This is the first relationship of its kind between a UK business school and Projector Institute.

Projector Institute is an established Ukrainian online education platform that offers training in creative and technology fields, including IT, project management, and design. Its courses are designed to provide practical skills through real-world tasks and projects. Since being founded, Projector has enrolled more than 20,000 students in over 130 courses.

Ram Gopal, Professor of Information Systems and Management at WBS and Director of the Gilmore Centre for Financial Technology, said: “Our mission is to explore how emerging technologies - such as AI, blockchain, and digital payments - are reshaping the financial sector. By sharing this expertise with Projector, we aim to support Ukraine, not just in rebuilding, but in creating a world-leading, resilient financial system.”

Bo Kelestyn, Associate Professor and design thinking expert at WBS and a Ukrainian national, added: “This relationship is about giving people - many of whom have lost so much - a chance to build their future and their country’s future.”

This announcement comes as the latest step in the School’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts, following the success of the Leadership for Educational Transformation programme, also run by Dr Kelestyn.

It also reflects the School’s broader leadership in preparing students for careers in emerging industries with emerging technologies, as WBS readies the launch of its new MSc Fintech this autumn - equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge to drive innovation and growth across the financial sector.
