Top marks: Undergraduate students gave WBS 95.6 per cent for its 'learning resources'
Warwick Business School has once again cemented its position as a leader in business education by topping the National Student Survey rankings among Russell Group institutions for the fourth year running.
More than 355,000 final-year Undergraduate students across the UK participated in the annual survey. On average 86.9 per cent reported favourably when asked about their teaching experience, but at WBS it was 92.1.
WBS ranked first among Russell Group business schools overall, and also secured top place in Finance, Management, and Marketing, with Accounting maintaining a strong second.
It reflects well on the School’s Undergraduate courses: BSc Management, BSc International Management, and BSc Accounting & Finance, and a host of Joint Degrees. And the School is set to add to its roster of courses with the new BSc Management with Marketing and BSc International Management with Marketing due to open for applications on September 2.
Andy Lockett, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Dean of WBS, said: “To be recognised as the top business school in the Russell Group for four consecutive years is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the ambition of our students.
“These results show that we are not only maintaining high standards but continually striving to improve.
“What is most gratifying is that this is from our students. They are at the centre of everything we do and as a school for the Change Makers we want to repay their faith by giving them the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the world.”
The National Student Survey (NSS) revealed significant gains in several key sub-themes, underscoring the School’s student-centred approach. The ‘student voice’ satisfaction score rose by three per cent to 89.8 per cent, reflecting students’ appreciation for opportunities to provide feedback and the School’s responsiveness to their input, which is a testament to its Student Experience and Engagement (SEE) team.
The School’s ‘learning resources’ score also saw a boost, rising to 95.6 per cent, making it the highest-rated sub-theme for WBS. This shows the strength of the School’s state-of-the-art facilities, digital platforms, and academic support systems, including the online learning platform my.wbs, which houses a host of resources and information for students. The 30-strong Teaching and Learning Enhancement (TLE) department makes sure WBS is at the forefront of technology in higher education.
And students were equally positive about the ‘teaching on my course’, which climbed to 92.1 per cent. This metric captures students’ perceptions of teaching quality, course clarity, and intellectual stimulation.
Mark Johnson, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes) said: “We’re especially proud of the rise in our student voice score. It shows that our students feel heard and valued, and that their feedback genuinely shapes how we evolve our programmes and support services.
“Our teaching staff are world-class academics and passionate educators. We ask our academics to bring the latest research and thinking to the classroom, and these results show that students find their lessons both intellectually engaging and accessible.
“We also have great support staff – something pretty unique among UK business schools. As well as the SEE and TLE teams we have a CareersPlus department with links to the world’s top banks, tech firms and businesses to give our students great opportunities.
“We’re thrilled with the feedback from our students. It motivates us to keep pushing boundaries and delivering an exceptional educational experience.”
