How did CareersPlus and Employer Relations support you during your Full-time MBA?
Employer Relations organised company visits and networking events that really helped me build my network and get comfortable starting conversations with people on roles I was interested in — and articulating what I could bring to the table. CareersPlus supported me right from the start of the MBA, helping me tailor my CV and cover letter for each role, through to mock interviews, and even supporting me part-time as I joined them as an Alumni Engagement Ambassador.
Which Capstone project option did you select? How did this experience support you in getting a role post-MBA?
I chose the individual Strategic Consulting Project, working with CGI on defining product strategy for their virtual flight recorder in the business aviation industry. It gave me real, hands-on experience applying product strategy thinking to a live industry problem — which translated directly into how I positioned myself for product and project roles post-MBA, especially being able to speak confidently about strategic thinking and stakeholder management in interviews.
What’s changed for you career-wise since completing your MBA? Was your MBA a contributing factor in this? If so, how?
Since completing my MBA, I moved into a Project Manager role at Riverlane, a quantum computing company. The MBA was a big contributing factor — it gave me the frameworks, confidence, and network to make that transition happen.
What were your career aims when applying for the MBA? Has it helped you achieve them?
When I applied for the MBA, I wanted to become an AI Product Manager. The MBA has absolutely helped me move towards that — both through the skills I built and the doors it opened.
What was your key career takeaway?
Don’t underestimate yourself — take the leap and put in the hard work. Network with the right people; those connections really do come in handy.
What’s your advice to future Full-time MBAs at WBS?
Don’t hold back — get involved early and make the most of everything CareersPlus and Employer Relations offer, from CV support to networking events. Put yourself out there, talk to as many people as you can, and don’t underestimate what you bring to the table. The hard work and the connections you build really do pay off.
