BSc Accounting & Finance (2013 – 2016)

I am currently a final year undergraduate from Malaysia. I came to Warwick sponsored by an oil and gas company called PETRONAS. My degree, BSc Accounting & Finance, is a mixture of lectures, seminars and group work. My final year modules are more open to elective options so I can choose the balance between the three. WBS emphasises the importance of teamwork and being able to communicate effectively with people from various backgrounds so every year I would have group work tasks to complete. In general, one module would have 2 hours of lectures per week, and 1 hour of seminar per week. I think the different types of study formats helps to cater for people with different learning preferences. I like lectures because they give an overview of the work that will be discussed in seminars.

The best thing about the programme would be the opportunity to do so many things! I love the fact that I can take up a language module whilst also doing accounting and finance modules. I also studied a human resource management module. The various module options available will help me in the future when I want to understand how organisations work as a whole. Additionally, my friends here are amazing and really supportive. The class is diverse with people from all over the world. Lecturers and staff are friendly and helpful, passionate in teaching.

While studying at Warwick, I have been involved in Warwick Volunteers, and I loved it. I am also involved in the Warwick Islamic Society, which holds talks and circles, and is an opportunity to meet new friends. With the availability of the Islamic Prayer Hall made by the chaplaincy, I met many friends from Warwick ISOC. I also had the chance to talk to potential students and parents, and share my university experience as a WBS ambassador. Unitemps based at Warwick University has also given me the chance to take up some part time jobs whenever I have free time.

Alongside this, I enjoy swimming and have joined swimming classes at the Warwick Sports Centre (now known as the Sports & Wellness Hub). The facilities offered by the sports centre are amazing. I particularly like swimming and I feel that I have really improved my skills from the classes.

Once completing my degree I hope to go back to Malaysia to work with my sponsor, PETRONAS. Hopefully it will be in the finance department so I can put my knowledge into practice!
