Global Mentoring Programme

Global Mentoring Programme

Exclusively for WBS students and alumni, our award-winning Global Mentoring Programme carefully matches mentees with a mentor from our alumni community for an 18-month period.

If you are a WBS student or alum seeking support to find clarity on the way forward in your career, find out how one of our WBS Mentors can help you.

How does it work?

Our volunteer mentors are members of the WBS community (the majority alumni), who receive training to support their mentees using a combination of taught mentoring skills and their own personal expertise. Mentors and mentees are matched based on the aims, motivations and career objectives of the mentee, and the experience of the mentor. For the duration of the programme your mentor will act as an unbiased, confidential support and sounding board.

The WBS Global Mentoring Programme has supported over 1,300 Mentees so far. Whilst the programme helps all WBS students and alumni alike, it has been particularly helpful for graduates taking the next step in their career.

How can a mentor help?

Mentors help to provide the motivation, confidence, and support to help mentees make the own decisions about their future steps.  Conversations may include:

  • Career planning
  • Goal setting
  • Soft skills
  • Career transitions.

The benefit of mentors being from outside of your workplace or family network means they can provide truly unbiased, non-judgmental, third-party support.

Locations of our mentors and mentees

Many of our mentors are UK-based but we have mentors around the world, including in China, India, Singapore, the UAE, Europe and North America. Geography is no boundary to the programme. Whilst many mentors and mentees will meet in person, we also have many remote mentoring relationships.
