Building strategic leadership skills on the Part-Time MBA (London Accelerator)

Part-time MBA (London Accelerator) participant Fara reflects on how the programme has strengthened her leadership capabilities, broadened her strategic perspective, and equipped her with practical tools to tackle real-world business challenges. 

One of the real highlights of the Leadership Accelerator has been the breadth of modules and how quickly we’ve had to adapt from one topic to another. This constant shift has forced me to engage deeply, to think critically, and to be open to concepts beyond my immediate expertise. The experience hasn’t just been about absorbing knowledge; it’s been about learning how to apply it at pace and under pressure, which is exactly what leadership in today’s business environment often demands. 

A toolkit for real-world business challenges

I’ve already been able to apply some of the new skills I’ve gained, particularly in areas such as Mergers & Acquisitions, consulting frameworks, and structured problem-solving. These have been invaluable in my current role within a fast-paced Tech company, where the ability to build on various areas and apply them to real business challenges is critical. The Accelerator MBA has, in effect, provided me with a toolkit that translates seamlessly into the demands of my work.

Bridging the gap between strategy and execution

Perhaps most importantly, the course has given me the confidence and capability to engage meaningfully with senior leaders at the C-suite level. I now have a far deeper appreciation of why executives make the decisions they do, the strategic pressures they balance, and the ways in which I can best support them while also advancing my own career. It has bridged the gap between operational know-how and strategic vision, which has been a central goal of mine in pursuing this MBA. 

Learning through a diverse cohort

Another defining element of the Accelerator MBA has been the diversity of my cohort. Working alongside peers with different professional backgrounds and skill sets has been energising. The collaboration has given me fresh perspectives, challenged some of my assumptions, and broadened my understanding of how leadership plays out in different contexts. I’ve learnt as much from my colleagues as from the course content itself, and that sense of shared learning has been hugely rewarding.

Reflections on growth and future leadership

The teaching throughout has been both demanding and inspiring. Each module has been delivered at a pace that keeps you on your toes, but it never feels unmanageable. Even in areas like sustainability, a subject I had little prior exposure to. I came away with not only a solid foundation of knowledge but also a genuine new interest. That, for me, is the mark of excellent teaching: the ability to spark curiosity and make complex topics both accessible and engaging. As I reflect on the my MBA experience so far, I’m struck by how much I’ve grown in such a short space of time. It has been a challenging experience, but one that has already paid dividends in my career and will no doubt continue to shape the way I lead and contribute in the future.
