We spoke with MSc International Business student Odera about her experience of gaining a Chevening scholarship to study at Warwick Business School.
How can a Master's scholarship at Warwick help me?
Current MSc Marketing and Strategy student, Diala Darwish, discusses gaining a scholarship to attend Warwick Business School and how that was shaped her experience so far.
When I first applied to pursue my Master’s in Marketing & Strategy at Warwick Business School, I had butterflies in my stomach, mostly from excitement, but also from nerves. I still remember the day I got my offer.
I was jumping up and down from pure joy, not only because I got into one of the most prestigious business schools in the world, but also because I received a 50% merit-based scholarship from WBS. It was one of those moments where the world stopped for a few seconds, and I just couldn’t believe it. It felt like all my hard work, late nights, and passion for marketing had finally paid off.
My MSc offer from Warwick Business School
Receiving the scholarship has elevated my entire Warwick experience immensely. It gave me the confidence to fully embed myself in both the academic and social sides of university life. From attending networking events to becoming a WBS ambassador and connecting with inspiring classmates and professors, the scholarship has pushed me to aim higher in everything I do.
I feel a sense of responsibility to perform well and to represent the WBS community with pride. The scholarship meant so much more than mere financial support. It was a reminder that WBS actually values its students and recognises their potential. That is the kind of recognition that continuously fuels and ignites the fire in me every time I step foot on campus.
Since starting the postgraduate course, my experience at WBS has been nothing short of transformative. The mix of marketing and strategy is exactly what I was looking for to develop my skills in these domains, whilst also equipping me with the knowledge I need to excel in the job market.
Yes, the course is challenging, but it is also gratifying and dynamic. You do not only get to learn from top academics, but also from fellow students. Every lecture and workshop brings a new perspective, and the discussions are always so engaging, mainly because there are students from all around the world bringing their experiences to the table.
WBS is a melting pot of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences with ambitions for success in this fast-paced world.
Application advice for a Master’s at Warwick
If I could give one piece of advice to future students applying for a scholarship, it is to always be genuine and authentic. They are not only looking for top grades, but creative minds that are passionate, raw, and inclusive.
Talk about what ticks you and drives you to achieve rather than just talking about said achievements. Talk about your north star and always remember you are a human, so show as much humanity and humility as possible in your application.
For anyone considering a Master’s at WBS, my advice would be to say yes to every opportunity you can get your hands on. Warwick is a place that harnesses and celebrates your minds. It is a place that challenges you and shapes you into a more confident version of yourself.
There are endless opportunities, so always seize every moment you can and make the most of what this university has to offer. Trust me, it offers a lot! You will grow in ways you didn’t expect, meet incredible people along the way, and gain experiences that will stay with you long after graduation.
For me personally, receiving that scholarship was the starting point of an incredible journey. One that continues to inspire me every single day.
