“Studying at Warwick Business School is redefining how I learn and grow.” Current student Tak Wai Andison Lau talks us through his reasons for choosing WBS and his experiences so far.
When I first set foot on the University of Warwick campus, I knew it was a moment I would never forget. The sun’s reflection danced across the lake as geese glided gracefully across the water, and the modern glass façade of Warwick Business School stood proudly against a backdrop of green meadows. It felt less like a campus and more like an ecosystem designed to inspire ideas.
From that first impression onwards, the MSc in Accounting and Financial Management proved to be so much more than a degree - it was a journey that challenged my thinking, immersed me in practical learning, and prepared me to lead with purpose.
In every sense, the WBS environment sparks motivation. Between lectures, I often find myself walking along the tree-lined paths that weave through the meadows and lakes a perfect space to think, reset, or brainstorm with friends. Inside, the building’s open layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, and collaborative pods create a sense of energy and openness that encourages genuine teamwork.
After a morning of mergers and acquisitions discussions, I’ll usually stop by the Atrium café for a coffee, watching the rhythm of campus life unfold - students sketching out valuation models on whiteboards, guest speakers chatting over lunch, and the steady hum of ideas coming to life.
Even away from classes, inspiration is close at hand. The sports and fitness centre, complete with an Olympic-sized pool and climbing wall, provides the perfect mental reset after a long day of financial modelling.
What makes Warwick Business School stand out is the enthusiasm and expertise of its faculty. These are not lecturers who simply read slides - they are thought leaders and professionals bringing real-world insight into the classroom.
During a session on Analysing Value Creation, our professor paused mid-lecture to discuss a live transaction he had advised on, asking us how we would account for supply-chain risk. In another, we were challenged to modify a blockchain prototype and present our version the following week.
Every class feels alive with possibility. Questions are welcomed, discussions are dynamic, and learning extends far beyond theory. By the end of each module, I find myself not only understanding new concepts but eager to explore them further.
The MSc in Accounting and Financial Management at Warwick is built around hands-on experience. We analyse real data from Bloomberg Terminals, stress-test M&A targets, and debate strategic decisions in real time. From modelling fintech disruptions for industry panels to building cash-flow sensitivity analyses for FTSE 100 firms, each project pushes us to apply theory to practice.

The MSc CareersPlus & Employer Relations team at WBS has transformed what might have been a daunting job search into an empowering process. From day one, we’re given a structured path - workshops on networking, one-on-one career coaching, mock interviews with real recruiters, and employer events that connect us directly with global firms.
Recently, I met with a partner from one of the Big Four firms to discuss international funding opportunities after my internship offer review. There’s also the chance to join an alumni shadowing scheme, allowing us to learn directly from graduates who are already thriving in their careers.
