Regional alliance: Ram Gopal, Director of the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology, says the partnership with SuperTech WM shows their shared ambition to deliver sustainable growth
Warwick Business School's Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology is at the heart of a new University of Warwick partnership with SuperTech WM to help shape the future of innovation and growth across the financial, property, and professional services sectors in the West Midlands.
The collaboration will bring together the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology's recognised research strengths with SuperTech WM - a West Midlands initiative to boost growth and innovation in the region - and its ecosystem of tech innovators, start-ups and corporates to drive forward the application of emerging technologies across the fintech and proptech landscape. This will be alongside the University of Warwick's involvement in SuperTech's current LawTech Innovation Lab.
The Gillmore Centre is a world-leading hub for research in digital finance, sustainability, and AI, and is home to the FutureFinance.AI Research Group, which is pioneering new ways to apply AI and data science across finance and real estate.
Key goals of the partnership include:
- Connecting Warwick students, researchers and spin-outs with SuperTech’s network of industry partners, proptech innovators, investors and policy stakeholders
- Pursuing joint bids for funding to support catalysing entrepreneurship in the proptech and fintech sectors
- Generating actionable insight and market intelligence to help industry and governments anticipate regulatory, business and sustainability trends across the professional and financial services sectors
- Deploying applied AI and data science research into financial services and real estate workflows to accelerate innovation and commercial impact.
Ram Gopal, Professor of Information Systems Management and Analytics and Academic Director of the Gillmore Centre, said: “Warwick’s partnership with SuperTech reflects a shared ambition to deliver meaningful impact that drives positive change and sustainable growth. Through the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology, we are helping to shape the next generation of financial and property services, supporting innovation across our region and beyond.”
Hilary Smyth-Allen, CEO of SuperTech WM, added: “This partnership marks an important step for innovation in the West Midlands. Working with the University of Warwick gives us a direct connection between cutting-edge research and the businesses shaping the future of professional services.
“The expertise within the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology, from digital finance to emerging proptech applications, strengthens our ability to support organisations as they adapt and grow in a rapidly changing sector.”
The partnership builds on the West Midlands’ momentum as one of the UK’s most dynamic hubs for business, professional, and financial services innovation. By joining forces, the University of Warwick and SuperTech WM are helping to shape a future-ready economy, where businesses of all sizes can connect with leading research and skills, cutting-edge technology, and new routes to growth.
