Leading in Healthcare when there is no (one) right answer

How do you lead and make decisions in a Healthcare environment when there is no one right answer?

Health and care provision is highly complex, it is replete with challenges which at first sight may seem to be irreconcilable. Where there is no one right answer healthcare leaders must ask themselves a series of questions:

  • Should we focus on prevention or cure?
  • On improving quality or service productivity?
  • Will services improve if they are centralised or if control is managed locally

In this taster session for our new online programme, 'Leading Strategic Innovation in Healthcare', Dr Bernard Crump will explore these "polarities" and will suggest ways that leaders can engage with their teams to find the synergies that are key to how they can be reconciled. We will also hear about how some of the world’s most successful organisations have addressed questions such as these in ways which challenge orthodox thinking on strategy.
