Spotlight On: Behavioural Science with Professor Ivo Vlaev

Welcome to our "Spotlight On" Lecture series, aimed to provide you with the opportunity to join us at Warwick Business School from wherever you are in the world and experience our world-class teaching.

We start the series with Professor of Behavioural Science, Ivo Vlaev and his lecture on ‘Using ‘Nudge Theory’ to Create Big Changes’.

This session explores the theory & application of behavioural change in organisations and in everyday working situations. We will work with a comprehensive theoretical framework for behavioural diagnosis and introduce a systematic methodology called MINDSPACE for designing interventions and activities inside teams and organisations. MINDSPACE was created from exploratory work undertaken for the British Government by the session tutor and his team, to use behavioural economics to inform policy and create new policy ideas. He will bring the ideas to life through a range of exciting case studies and ‘live’ experiences from recent work.

This workshop introduces key principles for professionals who are not familiar with behavioural change. The aim is to improve participants’ understanding of how to apply behavioural science in their own work setting, from the initial exploration of the problem, to the design, development and testing of new ideas. It will be based on three pillars: (1) beginners behaviour science; (2) designing and developing ideas; and (3) putting theory into practice.
