WBS China Alumni Network: Official Launch Event in Hong Kong

We are excited to invite you to our first formal, in-person WBS China Alumni Network event in Hong Kong! On March 21 2024, Professor James Hayton, Vice-Provost and Faculty Chair of Social Sciences, will be officially launching the network and hosting an event on the topic of Innovation.

Open to all WBS Alumni living or working in Hong Kong, this event will be held at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, and will bring together experts, enthusiasts, and curious minds to for some fascinating discussions regarding Innovation.

James Hayton

James Hayton, PhD (Georgia State University) is Vice-Provost and Faculty Chair of Social Sciences. He holds a J. Robert Beyster Fellowship for the study of employee equity compensation and profit sharing at Rutgers University (US) and is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for the Future of Work. His areas of expertise are the management of people and organizations to build capacity for innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic renewal. Author of over 100 articles, reports, and several books in both innovation and human resource management, his work has been recognized with several awards and is rated as one of the world's top 2% of researchers by citations. James is currently investigating the adoption of AI into companies, as well as its implications.

Ivan Chow

Ivan Chow is Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Ping An OneConnect Bank and holds an MBA from Warwick Business School. He has over 14 years of experience in the financial services industry, specialising in Fintech, SME banking, and strategy. Ivan is also an appointed member of the Hong Kong Insurance Authority Advisory Panel. He is a member of the WBS China Alumni Network, and holds the role of Executive Chair – Hong Kong.

Wilson Chow

Wilson Chow holds the position of Global Technology, Media and Entertainment, and Telecoms (TMT) Leader and Mainland China/ Hong Kong AI Leader at PwC. He leads and supports the PwC global network across all lines of service - Assurance, Taxation and Advisory - to provide one-stop professional solutions and services to companies in the TMT industry, as well as to clients looking to reinvent themselves through digital transformation. He has been working in public accounting practice in Mainland China and Hong Kong for more than 30 years, with extensive experience in providing assurance and advisory services to companies in the TMT industry, ranging from start-ups to global tech giants, capital market transactions, assurance engagements, systems and controls advisory, and deals. Wilson Chow is a practising member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Accountants, China Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He holds an MBA from Warwick Business School, graduating in 2016.

Yan Li

Yan Li holds the position of Assistant Vice President, Global Carriers Department, Centre of Innovations and Ecosystems at China Unicom Global. He has over 15 years’ experience in the telecoms industry, and previously held roles at a range of global companies including the Bank of China, Nokia, and Philips. Yan Li also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School, graduating in 2016.

Xu Pan

Xu Pan is Vice General Manager at Biotron, a biotech and healthcare company based in Guangzhou. He has over 14 years’ experience, and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He has previously held roles at KPMG and Cedar Holdings. He holds an MSc in Business Analytics and Consulting from Warwick Business School.

Yan Yu

Yan Yu holds an MSc in Management Science and Operational Research with Distinction from Warwick University and started working on Wall Street after graduation. She worked at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch over a 14-year period and was based in London before relocating to Hong Kong in 2010. Yan has extensive global markets experience, trading a wide range of markets including US, Europe, and Asia, and across various asset classes. In 2018 she left her banking career to gain two masters degrees in theology as well as co-founding Snowhill Science, a Medical AI company based out of Cyberport. Yan is a minister, lecturer and speaker. Her favourite topics are the financial markets, AI, and faith in the workplace.
