Publishing in ORM: What constitutes a methodological contribution

The journal Organizational Research Methods (ORM) is a renowned outlet for high-quality research on methodological advancements and the top research methods journal in the fields of management and applied psychology. ORM’s mission is to enhance the use of current and new methodologies to advance research practice and test and develop theory. Topics of interest to ORM include, but are not limited to, demonstrations of improvements of existing quantitative or qualitative methods, critical reviews of strengths, weakness, and current applications of analytic techniques, introductions of methodology from other disciplines, introduction of new analytic procedures, evaluations of existing epistemological and ontological underpinnings of common methods, and many more.

In this session, Tine will first briefly introduce the journal and provide general publication advice. She will then talk more specifically about what constitutes a methodological contribution and how to publish it in ORM. After the more formal part of this session, we invite attendees to have an informal chat with Tine to talk more about the journal or about their own research. Tine is also happy to schedule individual consultations with interested authors who might want to discuss a specific idea for a paper
