Five more years: EQUIS accreditation has been secured for another five years by Warwick Business School

Warwick Business School has been re-accredited for a further five years by EQUIS following a two-day peer-review visit.

WBS has been accredited by EQUIS, the accreditation body of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), since 2000. It remains among a select group of business schools worldwide to hold the prestigious 'triple crown' of accreditations, with the other two global bodies being the Association for MBAs (AMBA) and the US-based  Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Andy Lockett, Dean and Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, said: “We are proud to have secured EQUIS re-accreditation for a further five years. This is testament to the research and teaching excellence that defines our School and the commitment of our faculty, professional services colleagues and students.

“As a School for the Change Makers, our purpose is to equip people with the confidence, knowledge and networks to challenge convention, seize opportunities and create positive change in their organisation and community.

“Our EQUIS accreditation reflects that commitment. It recognises not only the quality of our teaching and research, but also the values that underpin our School and our dedication to developing principled leaders who can make a meaningful difference."

Since its last EQUIS visit, WBS has continued to drive excellence in research by increasing investment in its research training programmes and support for early careers researchers.

This includes the School’s fully-funded MRes/PhD programmes and the Houlden Fellowships, which support talented doctoral graduates to progress in their academic careers.

WBS is also leveraging education technology to enhance students’ learning. In 2024, the School invested in the SmartStage XR livestream studio, a £1.2 million extended reality online teaching studio used for its MBA and Master's level courses.

Alongside this, a team of Teaching and Learning Enhancement consultants work with faculty to deliver high-quality online and blended learning.

Professor Lockett added: “Together, these capabilities enable WBS to continue to innovate in how we teach students and to create flexible, engaging learning experiences for our global community.”

Over the last five years, a large emphasis has gone into equipping graduates with the skills needed for employment to remain closely connected to the changing needs of the workplace.

“Employability is at the core of how we teach; from guest lectures delivered by industry experts, to placements, practice-oriented capstones and employability modules, we help our students develop the capabilities and networks to thrive in their future careers,” said Professor Lockett.

What does EQUIS accreditation mean?

EQUIS accreditation is an internationally recognised mark of quality for business and management schools.

It follows a rigorous peer-review process that assesses a school’s overall quality, strategic direction, research, teaching, impact and commitment to continuous improvement.

Accreditation also connects schools to a global community of learning and benchmarking, while providing assurance to students, employers and academic partners worldwide.
