I joined WBS in 2020 from the University of Leicester, where I had worked since 2015 and for three years as Head of the Accounting Division at the School of Business. Prior to coming to the UK, I had worked for sixteen years at Bielefeld University in Germany, where I edited Zeitschrift für Soziologie, one of the leading German-language peer-review journals in sociology, from 2008 to 2015. I am member of the editorial board of Zeitschrift für Soziologie and of the journal Accounting, Organizations and Society, a member of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR), and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests

I am interested in understanding accounting as a social practice pervasive across organisations, businesses and governments, public and private settings, professions and industries, local communities as well as global discourses and institutions. I am particularly keen on investigating dynamics of accounting change under disruptive conditions and the potential of accounting to address ecological issues such as environmental impact, degradation, and renewal.
