Global Alumni Networks: Re-connecting in Singapore

28 November 2023

The Global Alumni Engagement team recently visited Singapore to host the first Singapore Alumni Network event since the Covid-19 pandemic, with all WBS alumni living or working in the region receiving an invite.

The event, which took place at the Fort Canning Hotel, was a fantastic opportunity for alumni to re-connect with old classmates, make new connections across the WBS community, and expand their personal and professional networks. The evening also offered valuable insights into AI through an expert panel session which explored the impact of AI on organisations and businesses, and how we can adapt and thrive in the current business climate.

The panel of expert alumni speakers included James Hayton (Pro-Dean for External Affairs and Professor of Innovation and HRM at WBS), Elaine Ng (Adjunct Instructor at General Assembly), Raymond Choa (Senior Vice President at Citi and Executive Chair of the Singapore Alumni Network), and Jo Brown (Business Development and Strategic Alliance Director at A*Star/IMCB). Discussions from both the panel and from the subsequent Q&A explored the potential threats and opportunities of AI, as well as how integrating AI into companies should have an inclusion focus. If you were unable to attend the event and you’re interested in finding out more about this topic, please download our current AI issue of Core Magazine or read our Core Insights article on who will benefit in the workplace and who will lose out, written by James Hayton.

Thank you to all alumni in Singapore who attended the event and made it such a success – we hope you enjoyed yourselves and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks also go to Wee Teck Tan (Regional Chair), Raymond Choa (Executive Chair), Punya Dileep (Social Chair), and Estine Morris (Social Chair).

If you are a WBS alum based in Singapore and you would like to be kept informed about any upcoming events in the region, please make sure you update your alumni details to reflect your latest location. Alternatively, you can contact alumni@wbs.ac.uk and the Global Alumni Engagement team will be happy to help.
