From collaborating with diverse teams on group assessments to attending seminars, WBS’ blended mode of teaching has been a refreshing change and offering a truly distinctive learning environment.
My course focuses on how to better manage, strategise, and leverage digital technologies and information systems for business purposes, which requires students to be creative, innovative, independent, and critical thinkers.
At WBS, we’re immersed in an environment that cultivates these qualities - encouraging curiosity, collaboration and confidence to be a Change Maker, inspiring people around us to make positive change in this world.
How to choose the right Master’s course
I decided to study MSc Management of Information Systems & Digital Innovation at WBS because of its strong academic reputation and excellent career prospects, particularly in roles at the intersection of digital technology, business strategy and innovation.
The course builds on the fundamentals of management and information systems, covering a wide range of modules, from cybersecurity and digital business strategy to sustainability and programming. It equips us with both the strategic understanding, and technical skills needed to lead digital transformation in modern organisations.
What I really appreciate about the course is that it allows us to tailor our learning to our individual interests, offering the flexibility to specialise in areas such as IT consultancy, programming or data analytics.
With a personal interest in data analytics, I chose Programming for Data Analytics and Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence, which helped me gain a solid understanding of both supervised and unsupervised learning. I learned how to apply models such as K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Decision Trees, Random Forest, and Neural Networks to real-world business problems using Python.
On my course, innovation is not just a topic of discussion, it’s a skill that is actively cultivated. Through real-world case studies, project-based learning and strong industry connections, the course inspires us to use technology creatively to solve complex business problems.
From digital transformation to AI applications, every module encourages us to explore how information systems can drive business model innovation and create future-ready solutions. This innovation-driven approach continuously challenges conventional thinking and expands our mindset.
How my MSc has enhanced my career
Studying this course was key in securing my offer for the Strategy and Corporate Management Graduate Programme at TCL Technology Group, a leading global company in semiconductor display technologies. Throughout the interview process, my ability to apply data and strategic analysis to solve complex business challenges was highly valued by the interviewers.
The practical, hands-on nature of the course helped me develop both the technical skills and strategic mindset that align closely with what TCL looks for. Training in Python and data analytics, combined with a deep understanding of digital transformation, business models, and decision-making processes, has equipped me to deliver data-driven insights and innovative solutions in fast-paced work environments.
Additionally, the course puts an emphasis on real-world application, which through case studies, group projects, and interactive seminars has enhanced my ability to communicate complex technical insights in a clear and strategic manner.
Collaborating with peers from diverse academic and professional backgrounds not only improved my teamwork and leadership skills but also helped me approach problems from multiple perspectives. These experiences have proven invaluable as I transition into a corporate strategy role, where cross-functional collaboration and agile thinking are essential.
Looking ahead, the knowledge and capabilities I’ve gained from my time at WBS has given me a strong foundation to grow as a digital strategist and business innovator, especially in industries undergoing rapid technological change.
