How will the Full-time MBA help me reach my career goals?

24 May 2018

Monica Garcia-Romero, Careers Manager, discusses how to make the make the most of the careers support available to Full-time MBAs.

Where do you want to get to?

Many participants who join the full-time MBA at WBS have a clear idea about their short-term career goals, which sectors and functions they would like to work in and in what country. Many others join the MBA without a clear goal and want to use the year to explore different career options and discover different opportunities. The good news is that we are perfectly positioned to help everyone as our inclusive and free services are designed around the individual.

Comprehensive, free leadership and development support

Our aim is to help all our MBAs regardless of where they are in their career path. We do this via a variety of activities such as leadership development, personal and professional development workshops, Development Centres, one-to-one coaching, online resources and employer engagement. To ensure you can maximise the support available many of our workshops and business events are integrated into the MBA academic timetable. We also run optional events but find that our MBAs want to attend as many of them as possible to make the best use of the opportunities on offer.

What can I expect?

The MBA is one intensive and exciting year that offers untold opportunities to focus on your career and next steps.

Become the leader you want to be

Our unique LeadershipPlus module offers the opportunity to learn through experience, feedback and reflection about what you personally stand for as a leader, how you can manage yourself effectively, and how you can lead, manage and influence other people successfully. It really is a transformational module!

Develop your toolkit for life

Our series of career management and personal development workshops ensure that you are fully equipped with the skills you need to reach your full career potential: topics range from CVs and Cover Letters, to networking, client persuasion skills, interview techniques, navigating the hidden job market, presenting to the board, working in a global environment, and many more. Enlightening and highly valuable, these workshops provide you with a set of career skills and insights you’ll use for life.

Discover new personal insights and strengths

In Term 2, our MBAs participate in a Development Centre. This provides a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and feedback to help map out individual development and career action plans and is a great way to kick-start to the career coaching process.

Access unlimited coaching

We are also really proud to be able to offer comprehensive one-to-one career, sector specialist or professional development coaching. It has been proven that the more a participant engages in one-to-one coaching, the more effective their job search is. We offer a sounding board and we share our many years of experience across a wide range of sectors, industries and countries, helping thousands of MBAs find their ideal roles when they complete their MBA.

Real life business engagement

We know that real life business engagement really sets our MBA apart from the pack. Our participants enjoy a variety of opportunities including employer treks, presentations from business leaders and sector insights from a series of specialists. Alongside this all MBAs have the opportunity to participate in our own and external Case Competitions and to have their CV distributed to corporate contacts and network with our active alumni. In addition, our MBAs attend a number of networking events hosted at our London base inside iconic building, The Shard.

Our relationship with you doesn’t end when your studies finish. All our full-time MBA students will continue to receive careers support via our Alumni career services once they have graduated!
