Overview
You’ll study nine required modules, select four elective modules of your choice (including one international elective), complete a Capstone module option, and finish with a four-month Partner School Exchange.
International electives
To develop your global citizenship and broaden your horizons, one of your electives will be a required overseas module at one of our partner institutions. These modules are all bespoke and designed specifically for WBS students, covering areas such as sustainability and digital innovation.
Capstone options
You’ll have four options to choose from to complete this module; the Self-sourced Internship, Applied Project Track, Dissertation, or Strategic Consulting Project. If you choose to take the Entrepreneurship or Social and Environmental Sustainability specialism, your Capstone module will focus in on your specialist area.
New for 2027 entry: Applied Project Track
Apply your MBA learning to real-world contexts through one of four applied project pathways:
Venture Creation: For those with entrepreneurial aspirations, you’ll develop and validate a new business idea.
Industry Deep Dive: For those exploring a sector shift, career transition, or investment theses. You’ll conduct an in-depth strategic analysis of an industry sector.
Social Impact Project: For those passionate about sustainability, social innovation, or working with NGOs and mission driven organisations. You’ll work on a live societal or environmental challenge with measurable outcomes.
Policy White Paper: For those with an interest in policy, regulation, or public-private partnership, and an aim to influence industry standards, engage with government or NGOS, or transition into a role that blends business strategy with policy insight. You’ll develop a concise evidence-based position paper that addresses a pressing policy or regulatory issue relevant, among others, to business, sustainability, or innovation.
You’ll develop practical and entrepreneurial skills, bridge theory and practice in a professionally relevant format, and benefit from collaboration opportunities through WBS industry, alumni, and partner networks.
Strategic Consulting Project
The Strategic Consulting Project will see you working for a real organisation, alongside a small team of your peers, for 10 to 12 weeks over the summer period. You’ll get hands-on experience of consulting on a specific business challenge in an industrial, commercial or public sector organisation. Although you’ll be working as a team on the same client project, you will each answer a distinct research question for your individual consulting report, enabling you to put everything you have learnt into practice while offering the chance to network and showcase your individual talent. 10% of your assessment will be based on group work and 90% based on your report. You will choose your own group to work with and we will support you in sourcing your project.
Internship (6-10 weeks)
If you're looking to add a work placement to your MBA, then you have the option to undertake a Self-sourced Internship of between six and twelve weeks, in the UK or overseas. Your Internship will allow you to take on a manager’s mindset, critically evaluating the practices you see during your time in business, identifying general management perspectives and reflecting on activities that are key to success. Assessment will take the form of a reflective report and a learning journal.
The Employer Relations team will advertise any internship opportunities from our key partners throughout the year and you can also apply directly through company websites too. The Careers Coaches will be on hand to support you with your applications.

Dissertation
Alternatively, you can opt to undertake a Dissertation. Although more academic with a focus on theory, it is still highly relevant in the world of business. It will demonstrate that you can assimilate your learning, take multiple perspectives on a business issue and explore your subject thoroughly. We will support you in sourcing your Dissertation project.

Specialisms
Alongside the MBA’s core backbone of building all-round business acumen, you can choose to focus your MBA within digital and AI, entrepreneurship or social and environmental sustainability by studying two of your elective modules and Capstone module within this area. You will gain a letter of acknowledgement from the Dean of Warwick Business School to confirm your success in one of these specialised study areas.
Digital and AI specialism
Digital technologies, especially AI, are reshaping industries, business models, and leadership at unprecedented speed. This specialism will support managers and leaders from non-technical backgrounds who are looking to prepare for a digital-first future.
The specialism also strives to serve experienced practitioners, providing a platform to share insights, challenge assumptions, and reflect on how to navigate digital change differently in the future.
By choosing the Digital and AI specialism you will:
- Be equipped with the concepts, jargon, evidence and examples to engage confidently in strategic debates about digital investment, adoption, and policy
- Develop a mindset for engaging with frontier technologies, especially AI
- Be prepared to lead digital transformation in an organisational context.

Entrepreneurship specialism
The entrepreneurship specialism will enable you to make calculated decisions between seizing opportunities and managing risk. Whether you want to set up your own business or develop your entrepreneurial mindset within a large corporate or an owner managed business, we will equip you with the innovative skills to find creative solutions to day-to-day problems.

Social and Environmental Sustainability specialism
We're ranked 11th in the world in the Corporate Knights Better World MBA ranking 2025, which lists the world's most sustainable Full-time MBA programmes.
This specialism will enable you to support an organisation to achieve social and environmental goals as well as financial ones. Whatever sector you're looking work in, from corporates and new ventures to non-profits and the public sector, the modules provide the skills you need to manage sustainably, whether you are a general manager, maintain another functional specialism or take a sustainability-specific role.
By choosing the Social and Environmental Sustainability specialism you will:
- Have a toolset for supporting a sustainability function, or equally for participating in the organisation’s transition towards sustainability
- Advance your skills in creating social and environmental impact across diverse contexts through sustainable innovation and systems transformation
- Understand in particular the carbon and energy transition engendered by the climate change challenge, and how to position an organisation within that transition.
Partner School Exchange
The four-month Partner School Exchange is your opportunity to gain new perspectives on business and management in an international setting. You’ll develop your critical thinking and analytical skills across a range of disciplines, apply your learning creatively and independently in different contexts, and reflect on the role of business within a global society.
