The advantages of taking a placement year

  • Professional placements are valued by employers
  • You have the chance to try out a career
  • You can gain essential workplace skills
  • You can potentially secure a graduate level role
  • You have the opportunity to gain an advantage in a competitive job market
  • You can begin professional training

Undergraduate Partnership Programme

In collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), we participate in the Undergraduate Partnership Programme (UPP) which enables students to gain professional work experience during a placement year. This involves working in an accounting role with an ICAEW member organisation during the third year of your course. Depending on the organisation and the work experience, the placement may contribute to the first year of the ACA qualification and you may also be able to take professional ACA exams. You can work in the UK or overseas, before returning to WBS for the final year of the course. The UPP placement year contributes to your overall degree classification.
