Kevin Spencer
Executive MBA (2022 - 2024)

My name is Kevin Spencer. I'm from Cape Verde and have spent most of my adult life developing Aerospace and Defence projects in Europe. I have a Master's in Aerospace Engineering, and I could describe myself as an engineer at heart with a manager's soul. I've led teams for over ten years, and I continue to be passionate about developing high-performing teams.

When looking for Executive MBA programmes, I was intrigued by the Warwick Business School's values, particularly "Restlessness" and its "Change Makers" mantra. It reflects perfectly what I am passionate about. The great rankings and wide variety helped, as well as the intuitive application process and friendly staff, which contrasted with other potential options.

One of the things that have surprised me the most has been how the cohorts, particularly mine, were designed to be excellently diverse. We have a mixture of people from different age groups, backgrounds, experiences and industries. That diversity made learning outside the classroom as valuable as the classes taught by the teachers. I was particularly intrigued by Strategic Advantage, which has been, so far, my favourite module.

Studying for an MBA while leading a €180M project is challenging. The support team has been tremendous and accommodating, but it requires much planning and many long weekends. However, the overall experience and knowledge gained have been incredible.

My advice for anyone currently thinking about studying for an MBA is: go for it! The faculty at WBS is outstanding and will help you through the journey. If you want to take yourself to the next level, there is no other place to go.
