How my MBA is helping me scale up my business

Distance Learning MBA* (London) participant and Heropreneurs WBS Bursary awardee, Katie Muldoon, shares her initial impressions of the programme and highlights its immediate contribution to her business expansion.

Towards the end of 2021, I took the leap from a corporate job and started my own company. I wanted to combine my military experience, corporate management consulting and my depth psychology studies to offer a new kind of leadership coaching for leaders.

Although I had left the military in 2014, I naturally reached for my military networks to explore what support was available. I sensed that the camaraderie and spirit I remember from my 10 years in the RAF would be built-in to these networks and knew I would need it on this journey.

I discovered Heropreneurs as part of this and was working with a mentor when I realised that Heropreneurs offered sponsorship to Executive Education courses at Warwick. I couldn’t believe the match in values to my own business aspirations and Warwick’s Change Makers driven by Curiosity, Openness, Restlessness and Excellence.

The whole application process was a real moment of reflection for me, helping me refine my business proposition and cement my motivation for applying. I didn’t have all the answers for my business yet, which is exactly why I was applying for a scholarship.

I’m now three modules into the online MBA and I am applying what I have learned already – it’s seen results for my business with revenue up, diversity of clients up and my network has also expanded by over 20 countries thanks to meeting my cohort at The Shard in London recently.

I cannot recommend applying enough - the process of learning and collaborating, my fabulous new network and increased knowledge is helping to build my business every day.

WBS is delighted to be sponsoring the Heropreneurs 2023 Awards. The winner of the WBS Award will receive a 100% bursary to study one of our MBA or Executive Diploma programmes, while the runner-up will be awarded a substantial 75% bursary, and the third-place contender will receive a generous 50% bursary.

Applications to apply for the 2023 WBS Heropreneurs Bursary Awards is Sunday 30th July. For more information, please visit the Heropreneurs website.
