Become an effective leader who is prepared for new challenges
This Postgraduate Award provides a robust theoretical understanding of how to become an executive leader, and practical tools to support the development of your future leadership brand. The PGA considers the development of effective executive leadership to be an on-going process that requires many abilities including awareness, flexibility, reflection, resilience, hard work, and the courage to grow, to name a few.
You will be encouraged to take a step back to think about your leadership identity and style and challenge your thoughts to gain a greater understanding of what constitutes effective executive leadership, particularly during turbulent times, and how you can work to become such a leader as you progress in your responsibilities and leadership capabilities.
Duration
This Postgraduate Award will run across four days of face-to-face teaching at our London base in The Shard, with a six week window to complete your assignments.
Structure
- Day one: To begin you will be exploring how the environment in which leaders operate is in continual flex and challenges existing orthodoxies, assumptions, and belief systems. You will explore how leaders can navigate and thrive in culturally complex situations
- Day two and three: You'll take a deep dive into theoretical concepts that will be used to unlock this module, before looking at how you can apply this to business or organisation. You will mobilise challenges from their contexts into the class and work with them to reframe how they can lead or tackle these issues. practical advice in this module is based on theory.
- Day four: You will explore leadership capabilities that will enable you to thrive in the world and look at how theory can be applied to leadership challenges.
To consolidate your learning, you will complete two assignments that typically include a mix of direct essay questions and reflective work in which you analyse a leadership challenge. You will explore the application of leadership theory to evaluate the challenge and then identify solutions.
