Kane Chan
Full-time MBA (2023 - 2024)

I originally come from Hong Kong and earned my degree in Finance, Accounting, and Management from the University of Nottingham. Following graduation, I entered the warehousing and logistics industry, securing positions with companies like Royal Mail and Amazon in the UK.

Subsequently, I returned to Hong Kong in 2019 to accumulate professional experience in my home city, undertaking diverse roles within both local and multinational companies over the course of four years. My journey continued as I started the Full-time MBA programme at Warwick Business School (WBS) in September 2023.

I was initially drawn to WBS by its world-renowned reputation as one of the top business schools in the UK, especially for its commitment to academic excellence and innovative teaching methodologies. The prospect of pursuing an MBA in such a prestigious environment was extremely appealing. There were several reasons why I applied for WBS. The comprehensive programme, including a diverse range of modules, provided a valuable opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of business management.

Additionally, the emphasis on building relationships with colleagues from different parts of the world and the prospect of engaging in overseas trips can broaden my global perspective in my professional career.

Studying for an MBA at WBS has been transformational. The rigorous curriculum challenges me to think from a critical and strategic perspective, preparing me for the complexities of the business world. The emphasis on practical application to real-world challenges, case studies, and group projects has enriched my learning experience and ensures a comprehensive skill set that does not focus solely on academic theories.

The support I have received from the CareersPlus team so far has been extremely useful. Their guidance in providing interview tips, improving my CV, and providing networking opportunities with a huge number of big corporations has been invaluable. It has not only provided some new perspectives on job hunting but also opened doors to potential opportunities that align with my aspirations.

For those contemplating an MBA, my advice would be to clearly define your career goals and aspirations. You need to understand how an MBA aligns with your objectives and how it can contribute to your professional growth e.g., switching industries or career progression. WBS offers a transformative experience, but success depends on your commitment, dedication and engagement.

Embrace the challenges, leverage the resources, and immerse yourself fully in the learning journey – you may not get the same opportunity again. The results will undoubtedly be worth the investment.
