Artificial Intelligence Innovation Network

The Artificial Intelligence Innovation Network (AIIN) was established by the Information Systems Management (ISM) group at WBS in 2018. The principle goal of the network is to combine academic and industry research into how human and machine knowledge and intelligence are being transformed.

The AIIN has represented the foundation for the larger-scale, externally funded Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology.

We have been involved in a wide range of sectors including:

  • Healthcare
  • Central Government
  • Local Government
  • Finance
  • Energy
  • Retail.

Our technologies of interest include:

  • Multi-agent Systems (MAS)
  • Neural Networks – image recognition
  • Blockchain
  • VR, AR, MR immersive systems
  • Cyber-physical systems (CPS).

Example of research themes include:

  • Ethics and AI - in social media, fake news
  • Future of Work, the impact of AI -  beyond the productivity paradox
  • Decentralised, Distributed Intelligence
  • Multi-Agents, Blockchain, Decentralised ledger combinatorial systems
  • Digital Twinning and Intelligence spatial-temporal-context transformations
  • Impact of VR, AR, MR, XR Immersive systems?
  • Deep Neural Network strategies for task-based human-machine replacement versus augmentation?
  • The issues of managing Superintelligence and superior skills
  • The Human-Machine Interaction? - how task, taught and reflective learning models are evolving
  • Defining new knowledge, learning, and intelligence for human and machine automation
  • Cybersecurity risk and new threat vectors in AI
  • Automation governance and adoption strategies for policymakers
  • Advanced digital platforms
  • The 4th industrial Revolution and the impact of automation
  • Next-generation technology ideation and incubation.
